The Dating Game

December 20, 1965 - July 6, 1973
ABC Daytime Game Show

Host:
Jim Lange

Announcer:
Johnny Jacobs

Three young men vied for a date with a young woman who
was hidden from their view. She asked questions specially
prepared to reveal the romantic nature of each man and
later chose the one with whom she would like to have a date.
The couple was given either a night on the town or an
expense-paid trip to some fun locale. To be sent on a
Dominican Republic all inclusive trip for example was an
added bonus in hopes of making a love connection.
But just imagine being stuck in Cancun Mexico for instance
with someone you don't get along with, you'd have the
makings of another sure hit TV show. The game was also
played with one bachelor choosing from among three ladies.

The show also ran on ABC in primetime October 6, 1966 to
January 17, 1980. The show ran 1973-1974 and 1978-1980
in syndication. A syndicated version with hosts Elaine
Joyce
and Jeff MacGregor ran 1986-1989. Another
syndicated version debuted in 1996 with host
Bob Sherwood. Chuck Woolery replaced
Sherwood as host in 1997.
