Henry Warnimont is a crusty old coot who manages an
apartment building in Chicago. One day a tenant, Mrs. Johnson,
hears noises coming from a vacant apartment. Yoicks! It is a
tramp, an escaped convict, a sex maniac? Not exactly--it's a
Punky Brewster, a 7-year-old moppet with worn jeans, pigtails
and a smudged face. She has been abandoned. Now, Henry may
be crusty and fusty, but he is not entirely without social graces.
He offers Punky some juice. But what's Henry going to do now?
Well, he somehow persuades the skeptical authorities to let
Punky and her adorable puppy stay for a while, and the little
girl began to bring sunshine into Henry's world. Stories
revolved around the adjustments to each other, and Henry's
professional work as a photographer. Eddie was the kooky
building maintenance man, Cherie was Punky's playmate,
Margaux the stuck-up classmate at school, Allen another
of Punky's friends, and Mrs. Morton her teacher.
Punky got a new teacher, Mike Fulton,
for the 1985-1986 season.
