Based on the novel "Cyborg," by Martin Caidin.

The premise of the show was that Steve Austin, an astronaut
and pilot, after crashing in an experimental NASA aircraft
he was test piloting, was brought back from the dead by his
long-time friend Dr. Rudy Wells -- by turning him into a
cyborg. A bionic human being. He lost his left eye, right
arm, and both legs. These were replaced by cybernetic
replicas. They functioned just as well, if not better,
than his original parts. His legs would allow him to run
at incredible speeds, and be able to jump higher or farther
than anyone living. His arm could lift incredible weights,
and both the arm and legs could bend, break, or smash
materials impossible for normal people to even scratch.
His bionic eye could not only see farther -- and more
detail -- than a human eye, he could also see in other
parts of the spectrum such as infrared, which are
normally invisible to you and I.

After receiving the bionics, and managing to "adjust" to
them, Steve was to become an agent of the OSI -- the Office
of Scientific Intelligence, who were his benefactors. The
OSI had provided the money to make Steve bionic: the amount
of "Six million dollars, to start with". Now Steve was
obligated to pay them back -- by going to work for them on
secret, always dangerous, missions. And so he did.
Oscar Goldman appeared as Steve's Government boss, and
Peggy Callahan was seen occasionally as his secretary.
